Nightowl Night for Owls

As I worked at Mass Audubon's Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, I became intrigued by saw-whet owls. I was invited to participate in a banding demonstration, and I was immediately captivated by these fascinating creatures. I was struck by the calmness of the birds as they were weighed, measured, and banded, and I was equally thrilled as my character Sova when I released my first saw-whet owl back into the night.

The saw-whet owl has long been a subject of fascination for me. It was during my time at the Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary that my interest in these captivating birds truly blossomed. I had the privilege of joining a banding demonstration, and the experience was nothing short of enchanting. As I watched the birds being carefully weighed, measured, and banded, I was struck by their remarkable composure. It was in that moment that I felt a deep connection to these remarkable creatures, and I knew I had to share their story with the world.

Just as my character Sova experienced the thrill of releasing a saw-whet owl back into the wild, I too was filled with a sense of wonder and excitement. The act of watching these birds take flight and disappear into the darkness was a humbling and awe-inspiring moment, one that I will cherish forever. It is my hope that through this story, readers will gain a deeper appreciation for the remarkable world of the saw-whet owl and the importance of conservation efforts to protect these delicate and resilient birds.
