The cameras have built-in batteries and work wire-free, while the solar panels have wires. If you're okay with taking the cameras down for recharge every few months, you can use them without the solar panels and their wires. The indoor NVR does require power.

The 1st recharge charges the cameras to 100%, then the solar panels replenish power daily. If the weather is fine and the cameras are not activated too frequently, they should last. Otherwise, you may need to charge some cameras every few months.

The 64GB SD card should keep videos of more than 90 days if the cameras are not activated too frequently. They skip empty still videos and keep motion-triggered videos compressed in H.265. You can add a 2.5" HDD if you need to save more videos.

The PIR sensors detect people, animals and vehicles within 35ft x 120 degrees, and will ignore most plant movements to avoid disturbing you.
